The Cleveland Indians make the evenings interesting. GO TRIBE. Recently my roof caved in in my office, and my apartment was in shambles until recently. Why am I sharing this? Well I sort of moved all my Elvis stuff into the kitchen and I'm going to share some of the pics on the myspace page. The documentary and distribution stuff is going well. I picked up a pair of TCB shades to help keep me focused. Thoughts on the day... I seriously need a hair cut. No pics will be provided. HA! Monday 10/3/07 Sorry it has been so long since an update. We're still negotiating on a deal, so that everyone can see the film, not just a few cities. Many of our fans have moved our Elvis discussions over to my MySpace page. Thursday 8/16/07 Here it is, the 30th anniversary of the day Elvis left us. Can you believe it has been 30 years???!!! People forget that Elvis was only 42 when he died. That's younger than many professional athletes! Elvis would be only 72 today. Elvis, if you are out there, we miss you terribly. Your music will always be with us. Thoughts on the day... We sent out our first newsletter today. If you did not receive it, please let me know. Wednesday 8/15/07 THE TRUTH ABOUT ELVIS NEWS Hi Everyone! I am sorry for the delay in making an announcement. I wanted to have concrete news before posting anything, but all of you have been way too curious for me to wait any longer. As most of you know, we have been preparing to release THE TRUTH ABOUT ELVIS in August 2007, in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of Elvis Presley's death. Our film investigates the myth that Elvis may still be alive. We were planning on releasing the film ourselves in theaters in 5 cities (L.A., N.Y., Chicago, Memphis and Cleveland). As we worked on final filming and editing, we continued to gather evidence and promote the film. We generated a great deal of media attention from our $3 Million Reward! Recently, a number of distributors approached us from the U.S., U.K., Sweden, Germany and elsewhere. We had already spoken with many other distributors here in the U.S. For some reason, momentum started building this summer, and we found ourselves with two options: 1. Distribute the film ourselves NOW in a few locations, or 2. Work with a bigger distributor to allow EVERYONE to see the film at a future date. We decided to try for a wider release. Please understand that this will not result in a bigger payday for us. We are giving away a big piece of the pie to make this happen. Our goal is to get this film done to the best of our ability and to get it seen by the most people, including other parts of the world. We were hoping to make an announcement with the name of our distributor earlier this month, but we've had delays outside of our control. My partner Dan is working on the business side of things, and we will announce our distributor and release dates as soon as we can. I'd love to tell you the name of our distributor, but I can't do that until the paperwork is signed. I truly hope that none of you are too upset with the delay. I know that we have thousands of supporters on our web sites that are anxiously awaiting this film. Words don't begin to describe how much I appreciate all of your support. Has there ever been an independent film with so much support? I can't think of one! Lee Bailey about the story that Elvis Presley's body was being exhumed. The story was reported in the news and on other web sites. Mr. Bailey told us that the story is NOT TRUE. He has not filed a lawsuit, and he is not attempting to dig up the grave at Graceland. Again, we are seeking the TRUTH. We will not create or spread fake stories. Thank you all for your support! Updating the site took so long that it's not Tuesday anymore! Monday 5/14/07 Finally, my home town of Cleveland is starting to pay attention to this film! Three Cleveland TV networks ran stories within the past week. Tonight NBC made The Truth About Elvis the FEATURE STORY. Teasers ran during Shrek, and I even heard ads on the RADIO. Believe me, I was surprised to hear my own voice on the radio when I didn't expect it. It was like a radio ad for my movie! All three of the stories were great! NBC did the best job and they spent the most time on it. I was glad that every network took my film seriously. Of course, the national media attention we received was more important for the film, but it was nice to get some recognition in my home town. Thoughts on the day... Did you guys know that Elvis was a Cleveland Browns fan? Go Browns! Wednesday 5/9/07 Lots of great emails and discussions here. If you have legitimate information, and would like us to keep it confidential, please let me know! NBC in Cleveland is doing a story on the film next week. Gas prices are out of control! Tuesday 5/1/07 It seems that lots of you want to send a message to Elvis through this site. Please remember that we are also publishing a book called LETTERS TO ELVIS. You can find info on our web site at (you guessed it) LettersToElvis.com. A handwritten letter to Elvis is much more personal than an email. Thursday 10/5/06 One of our web site visitors suggested that we create a page for people to post messages directed to Elvis. I'm glad that you like the trailer and media coverage video. It means a lot to me. Many people have told me that they were surprised that Geraldo Rivera did a story about our film. To answer your question: No, Geraldo doesn't think Elvis is alive. Of course, we were glad that he was willing to promote our film on his show. For those of you that don't know, here's why Geraldo's story is interesting. In 1979, he did a major report on Elvis for 20/20. The entire show was dedicated to the Elvis story, and it was one the highest rated shows of the year. In the show, Geraldo investigated EP's death and determined that it was caused by drugs. At the time, all formal reports stated that Elvis died of a heart problem. The story was HUGE, and it made Geraldo famous. Geraldo then went on to investigate Al Capone's vault and later got his own talk show. Like I said, interesting stuff. I'm curious. How do Elvis fans feel about Geraldo? Are you glad that he investigated the drug theories? Do you think it was sensationalized? Do you think it was true? We've heard so many stories about his death. Was it his heart, his intestinal problems or drugs? Or, was it none of these? Is Elvis still alive? It's these inconsistencies in documents and opinions that have led to speculation that he may still be alive. Maybe he's alive, and people weren't buying the story that he died of a heart condition. "He's too young." "Maybe it was the drugs." All speculation by media and fans. Who really knows? Thoughts on the day... See what happens when you guys ask me so many questions? I'll try to keep my comments shorter. Saturday 9/23/06 More exciting news: We just posted a short video of Media Coverage on our About page. Please check it out. Our film is one of the most publicized documentaries EVER! And, it won't be released for another 11 months!!! We found over 300 TV news stories here in the U.S., plus hundreds of newspaper and radio interviews about our film. We also got press in over 40 COUNTRIES! Can you imagine the publicity we will get when the film is done? Clearly, this is a film that the world wants to see. Thoughts on the day... Elvis being alive may be the WORLD'S biggest myth. Wednesday 9/20/06 Keep the information coming. We've gathered lots of great information since we held our press conference. It's really hard to review it all, but we're doing our best. Friday 9/15/06 We played our trailer in front of a live audience of 200 people in Santa Monica on Tuesday, and we were SHOCKED by the response. They actually APPLAUDED after our trailer! Thoughts on the day... The lady that ran the event said she had never seen an audience react like that! Sunday 9/10/06 Over 60,000 people have watched our trailer on MySpace within the first week. Thoughts on the day... This is a good problem to have. Saturday 8/19/06 WOW! We've had an amazing week! As many of you know, this web site crashed on Thursday and Friday. Fortunately, the ElvisWanted.com web site held up well. There is so much to tell you, I don't know where to begin. We did interviews with dozens of radio stations and newspapers AROUND THE WORLD. It seems like everyone is fascinated with this story. We'd like to thank everyone for their support and encouragement. Many Elvis fans have complained about our film and accused us of being hoaxers, but please remember, I AM NEUTRAL ON THIS SUBJECT. We are simply exploring the myth and talking to people on both sides. We aren't going to stage anything fake. This is a real documentary. Aren't you curious about all the people that think Elvis is alive? Don't you want to know what they have to say? Wouldn't you like to know what Joe Esposito, Linda Thompson, Dr. Nick and others have to say about people that think Elvis is alive? Wouldn't you like to know how many films have made references to the myth? It's really compelling stuff. A couple of controversies came up in Memphis, and we aren't sure how to handle them. You will be shocked when you hear about them. We have to decide whether or not to go public with this information. It gives me goosebumps! We had a great time at the Elvis Vigil. We met lots of great people, as usual. I am convinced that Elvis fans are the friendliest people in the world. I'll fill you in on the rest later. Thoughts on the week... Simply amazing! Monday 8/14/06 We hosted a big press conference in Mempis, and we launched a new web site, ElvisWanted.com. The press conference was lots of fun. Many people turned out to talk about the film. We announced a $3,000,000 Reward for proof that Elvis is alive, and we unveiled a billboard at the intersection of I-55 and Elvis Presley Blvd. Here is the press release that we sent out: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Filmmakers Offer $3,000,000 for Proof that Elvis is Alive An upcoming documentary film will investigate the myth that Elvis Presley is alive. I hope to post a trailer and other footage on MySpace in the near future. Sunday 7/23/06 I just bought an Elvis pinball machine. Picked it up today. It's a very interesting item. After Elvis died, rumors began right away that the body didn't look like Elvis, but the media didn't cover it. The conspiracies didn't really grow for at least a few years after his death. Then, people began to consider all of the evidence. Here's what's interesting about the pinball machine: It has a big picture of Elvis and the word ALIVE. It was made in 1978!!! Can you believe that? An Elvis ALIVE pinball machine from 1978!!! When was it designed? Elvis died in August 1977. No rain, lots of trees. Does everyone know who Monte Nicholson is? What a nice guy. He's an author and a former Los Angeles sheriff. He knows a lot about the Elvis myth. His book is a fictional book that's based on facts. At the time that he wrote it (1980s), not all of the facts had come out yet, so he had to fill in the gaps. Monte had some great stories to tell. Wednesday 5/17/06 Many people have a theory that Elvis wasn't in the casket at his funeral. He didn't quite look like himself. Some reporters described him as looking a bit "waxy". Was it a wax dummy? Who knows? Well, we went to the best: Madame Tussaud's in Las Vegas. They have two incredible Elvises. The Elvis wax figures look exactly like him! It's a little spooky. One Elvis is up on a stage near the end of the tour. It's their #1 photo op. It's kinda like the photos you get when you get off the roller coaster to see how much fun you had. At Madame Tussaud's you get a pic of yourself with the King! According to the experts, it very well could have been a wax figure. Of course they don't know for sure, but know we know it was possible. I'm sure his stories will make it into the film. Thursday 5/11/06 Well, Elvis didn't show up on AI. It was entertaining, but we learned that nobody does it like Elvis! My buddy Chris Davidson at Elvis-A-Rama sold his museum to CKX, the owner of Elvis Presley Enterprises. That's just nuts! The new owner, Robert F.X. Sillerman, is going to close the museum and make a bigger attraction in Vegas. I don't know what to think about this. I'm sure it was a good deal for Chris. Chris was very supportive of my film, and he took his time to show me around the museum. His interview was great. You'll see part of it when the film is done. I'm excited for him but honestly I have to get ready for school too. I think I have more to do as a parent than I had to do as a student. Man... glad╠I skipped college. Possibly have some things coming up for Elvis. Wednesday 8/17/05 More Memphis set up shots. Little bit of me talking hanging out etc. Ready for this? I interviewed Elvis' clothier, that's right the guy who fronted Elvis' clothes to go on Ed Sullivan and all his earliest shows. Mr. Bernard Lansky, I'm pretty sure he was in the room when everyone was deciding what "cool" meant. He says if you think Elvis is alive than you believe in Santa Claus too. We headed back to St. Louis to interview Bill Beeney in person. I already interviewed him by phone a while back. I was excited to finally meet him in person. He quite honestly can and will make believer out of any doubter. With Mr. Beeney you just point the lights, point the camera and say "Go." And 1 hour later, after you pick your jaw up off the floor, you wake up from this mesmerized state and wonder why all this information has been kept from the public, and where is that Elvis anyway? One thing's for sure... not dead. Got on the plane went home. Thoughts on the day... Honestly, an hour of Mr. Beeney telling you what he knows could be it's own riveting Elvis Expose. The guy knows his stuff. Fini'. Next! Tuesday 8/16/05 Got establishment shots early in the day, then interviews. Hit the famous Beale Street, good lunch. Dropped in at Sun Studios, where Elvis made his music. Great interview with one of the in-house experts. Interviewed a nice Lady. She has seen Elvis six times since 8/16/77. She's had serious badged people tell her to back off. She knows of a secret location where Elvis is harbored from time to time. Has her own theory on scientology involvement, has a grainy VHS recording of Elvis walking around the grounds of the secret location. Has a little known of recording of some songs Elvis made in I believe '89 or 92. The VHS tape was shot Christmas '97. Also she lives in a place where it would be hard for her to miss anything "strange" going on in or around Graceland. She and her husband are some of the coolest people you want to meet. Her husband said "If you think Elvis is dead... well you're stupid." He also shared an interesting story about who also ISN'T buried at Graceland. Riveting and fun. Thoughts on the dayÈ Considering all we've shot in such a short time, this trip has been more than worth it. Monday 8/15-6/2005 This is what a cat like me lives for. SO! From St. Louis airport to Memphis is like a 3-4 hour drive. I'd been up and ready for action since you know 8:30 am. D.B. picked me up, and we headed south. We got tired from driving, but as we got closer, we started to get wound up. As the Memphis signs became more frequent, we began whipping out cameras and checking batteries. We looked liked some military special operations team getting ready for action. So! Ready for this? We worked our tails off from 9:00 pm 'til 4:00 am. These Elvis fans were up all night paying their respects. I loved it every minute. Absolutely amazing. D.B.'s lovely girlfriend Angela was helping out as well. She's an awesome production assistant. We felt like such gangsters getting ready for the shoot that we came up with gangster names. Angela was "Sizzle" I was "Skinny" and D.B. was... well "D". To shorten this entry, but do the day justice, I'm going to use bullet points. * 35-40 "people on the street" interviews * Hundreds of little Elvis shrines on the street in front of Graceland * An artist painting a huge Elvis on the street * Candle madness * A little girl dressed up like Elvis "sequins and cape" style cute, priceless * A little boy jumped out of line to light people's candles, he was helping me get a better shot * Long dramatic serpentine line of candle bearers from the street to the door of Graceland * Me dancing * Elvis Priestly, a minister who preaches Elvis style * An impressive mix of interviews; some are sure Elvis is dead, others of course think he's alive * Native Memphites and travelers from all over sharing good vibes - you can't really "shoot it" but you can sense it I'm sure I'm leaving something out. Little lay over in Cinci, flying into St. Louis where a friend of mine who's promoting one of his projects agreed to pick me up and help me with the project for a few days. SWEET! My buddy D.B. is pretty ambitious, he was in Chicago, NYC, Cleveland, all in a matter of ten days or so. The guy that he is, he takes a break from all this to help me with my Elvis project. Thanks. (clearing throat) Anyway my Aunt Celeste made my mother a quilt, a huge quilt and with the magic of digital she was able to put pictures on it, man was that emotional. Anyway hashing out the plans for Memphis. I told my production team to posse up and let them know I'm going with or without them. BUT will my super hot '87 VW make the 755 mile trip. Dunno! Thoughts on the day... My boss gave the days off so now transport and budget are the only concerns. Saturday 8/6/05 My Mom and my son are birthday twins and today is the big day! Alex 7 Mom 50. Friday 8/5/05 Well my baseball team is the best we smoked our arch rivals in the last game of the year. We beat them so bad, they sent some dude over to our side of the field to check our bats. Like they were corked or something it was awesome! (Remember, these are kids playing.) Also my team is the Grey Yodas. We had a Yoda at every game. First a happy meal flipping Yoda, then I bought my Yoda hand puppet from when I was little, and for the last game I had a LIFE SIZE YODA standing right there in the field. SO! Elvis. I am full speed ahead on planning my trip to Memphis, and St Louis. There's quite a buzz, 1st the National Examiner July 25 issue, then I googled myself. (I feel weird saying that) but i found more interesting Elvis stuff. Anyway the buzz, there's a cool website called Elvis Express. Tuesday 6/14/05 Well my project is sort of in "clerical" land. No hot action regarding interviewing and filming. I'm trying to scrape up a little bit of green so I can go on my next road trip. There are lots of people to interview, and I want to get on it. I've been sorting through the evidence that comes in daily. Great stuff. Keep it coming. I've been enjoying the first week of summer vacation (Alex's) we've golfed, played baseball╠and hit the beach, that's just this week. I was treated to a fun filled day at Cedar Point and of course there's no escaping The King.╠When the sun goes╠down at Cedar Point, the park puts on this extreme laser show. There was this cool cartoon Elvis, cutting it╠up to╠"A╠little less conversation a little more action". Seeing that makes me smile and I'm filled with the feeling that╠hard work in the name of the truth about an icon will not go overlooked or unappreciated.╠ Thoughts on the day or few days... Its been HOT in Cleveland Ohio. Hot to the point I take cold showers, naps and hang out in my house in boxers all day. It's cooling off though and I'll be in the mood to work. I tried not to get worked up and give away my whole story, well at least╠not EVERYTHING I've discovered so far.╠The interview lasted 15 minutes. I just wanted to plug the website and give them a good story. Remember the guy "Fish" from Ally McBeal who had the thing for older women's waddles and a law firm? Any time one of his lawyers was giving an interview on television, he'd watch and just go into a mantra "Plug the firm, plug the firm, plug the firm". He wanted new cases, I want leads. It's hot outside I accidentally got caught up in an aggressive game of volleyball and I can hardly walk. Started baseball practice with my son Alex (I'm coaching) ALMOST had a crier!╠╠A little girl,╠she kept it together though, but not until the pouty lip thing happened. I was scared, I mean what am╠I going to say? "Suck it up, chick." No really╠I was ready to throw my hands up and yell for the parent.╠We're talking about 6 and 7 year olds, I even have a 5 bagger on the team. ╠That's that. Well╠I guess I'll mention this, all the parents hung around for the entire practice. There were a few moments when I was experiencing "flop sweat", but I just stuck to my repitoire and pulled it off. Thoughts on the day... Coaching, like making a movie requires a plan, a leader and a common goal or interest. Wednesday 6/1/05 You would not believe the evidence I've been getting! I can't wait to travel to Memphis and St. Louis. A lady told me that Elvis is in Home Alone which was released in 1990. Elvis would have been 54 or 55 when it was filmed. I sent packages to the studios with a DVD copy of my short, why is it so hard to get a meeting? Certainly a studio can afford to help me with this project. I'll keep pushing. Wednesday 5/25/05 Elvis's Blue Suede shoes are kept in a glass case at The Elvis O Rama museum in Las Vegas. Really, the ones Elvis wore on the Ed Sullivan Show. We interviewed the owner/curator Chris Davidson. What a great museum. It was far more impressive than I expected. The Elvis cars were amazing! The BEST ELVIS IN VEGAS Eddie Powers gave me an interview. Lovely wife, pink car, cool jump suit, 'nuff said! Drove back to Hollywood and partied down at The House of Blues. Chemical Romance performed for the 20th Anniversary Party for the Alternative Press. Yeah! Thoughts on the day... I could get used to this. Tuesday 5/24/05 I interviewed a very important person that shared some amazing information about Elvis. We met for over 2 hours. I'll share more information on this interview in the near future. I want to see where the information takes me before I announce it. I want to be very careful with some of the more sensitive information. Then off to Vegas, 80 mph is sweet, 109 farenheit is not sweet. 20 interviews on the strip, lost $20 at black jack, went to bed. Thoughts on the day... Good fun in Vegas, my interview in L.A. was compelling. I've got a new friend in L.A. Monday 5/23/05 Whoa! I was in the Chairman of Columbia Pictures/Sony Entertainment's office, introduced myself, talked to her lovely assistant waited five minutes before security asked me to leave. Sweet. I attempted two more studios but did not get past the gate. I interviewed a guy that knew Elvis. Cruised to Beverly Hills to see if Priscilla would talk to me, she was out. Tried to interview people who are currently living in some of Elvis's old homes, no dice. Played╠Bingo and grabbed a comedy show then called it a day. Thoughts on the day... day two, done. Sunday 5/22/05 Touch down! My friends picked me up from LAX,╠we had lunch and hatched a plan. We hit╠Hollywood Blvd and╠interviewed 30 people. Three staple questions 1. How big╠of an Elvis fan are you? 2. What were you doing when you heard Elvis had died?╠ 3. What are your thoughts on the evidence that suggests Elvis is alive?╠We took footage of Elvis's star on the walk of fame I tested my hip shake against an Elvis impersonator's. Then called it a day. I had dinner with members of my crew, my best friend and his girl (CA residents), they kindly embarassed me at Golden Tee Golf then took me back to the hotel. Thoughts on the day... Day one, done. Saturday 5/21/05 Off to Cali tomorrow. Lots to do. I hope there's enough time. The force is with me. Thoughts on the day... Big week ahead. I hope to get more leads from my growing army of Elvis-Spotters. Please help. Thursday 5/19/05 Warner Bros. expressed some interest in my package! WOW! They might not be available to meet, though. I have to send them another copy of the DVD. Hopefully, there will be more news by the time I arrive. My friend Dave has been helping to line up interviews for my trip. He's doing great! He's made some amazing contacts in other parts of the country. I can't wait to travel to the south eastern states! This film is going to ROCK! We need more L.A. interviews. ATTENTION ALL ELVIS-SPOTTERS: PLEASE EMAIL ME RIGHT AWAY WITH LEADS OR CONTACTS. I don't know if I can afford to trvel to L.A. again. I haven't received very many donations, so this has been a tough road. On a more personal note, I took Alex to the midnight STAR WARS release. Got 1 million things to do before I leave. Laundry, pack, focus. What am I gonna do with the dog? Al's taken care of but still a lot to do. Then I 've got to harness my Jedi powers to find Elvis and perform a mind trick on a studio exec. Thoughts on the day... Success I will have Elvis fans. Monday 5/16/05 Had my son hitting from both sides of the plate today. It's nice here in Ohio. Golf tomorrow, showed Erich (my camera man) the edited down stuff for the first time. I hope the big wigs in Hollywood like it as much as he did. If they can help me pay for what I want to do, this film will be groundbreaking! I can't wait to tell all of you more about the leads I've been getting! Please be patient. Big news soon! Friday 5/13/05 Well here it is: LA 2 days Vegas 2 days. Objective: get some help from a big studio, investigate the facts surrounding Elvis' departure, tan, gamble. Thoughts on the day... Somebody e-mail me and tell me what to wear. Also the hair just above the collar needs a trim but do I dare trimmimng then having the fresh haircut untanned zone atop a dark brown caddy neck? Aye aye aye aye. Wednesday 5/11/05 Yeah! Dropped a letter and dvd addressed to Steven Spielberg. K? K. I also sent letters to all of the studios. I wonder how they will respond. I hope they don't think this is a joke or a parody! This is a serious doc. I think the world wants to know why the myths have carried on so long. Thoughts on the day... Explaining my excitement to Alex my 6 year old went like this: "Remember when we saw E.T.? Well... Dad sent a letter to the guy who made that movie." Monday 5/9/05 Well this where I have to really press. I'm composing a letter to send to studios. This clerical stuff is totally not me. I've been working on editing a rough with some of my interview footage to show to people. It takes a long time! Its going to be great though. Its very interesting and very informative. Once I can afford to travel to meet with some of these conspiracy theorists and people that knew Elvis, I think things will get even more exciting. So I'm getting addresses and contact names for studios. What pulls me through is the familiarity I have with studio names Disney, Dreamworks, Columbia, It's hard to get frustrated when ulitimately I 'll have made some contact with the likes of these. It's not like looking up an old classmate or doing taxes ya know. Travel plans coming together. Thoughts on the day... If I can get my little letter and the sample footage together and shipped this week it will coincide with the ELVIS TV MOVIE. That would be cool. Friday 5/6/05 Aye aye aye aye, so it's noon 5.5.05. I call a friend to say hello. She tells me she's partying for Cinqo de Mayo. So I say let's throw together a Margarita party! Yeah good idea. No. Not good. On the night, 2 friends got extremely mad at me, 1 friend got banned from the bar I live above, 2 people were sleeping in my hallway at 3am until the police woke them. Aye aye aye aye. HOWEVER! I manage to wake up and caddy SO I'm getting there. Thoughts on the day... Hey people don't party and have a good time with your friends for 5 and 6 hours then all you retain from the whole evening is the 4.5 minute spat you had. It's not cool... it's not Elvis. Tuesday 5/3/05 The weather is finally improving. The sun has been out for weeks now which lures me into outdoor activity but the air is still very chilled. It's aggravating really. Anyhow I'm caddying at a country club nearby to pay for my trip to the west coast. There's a 60 year old caddy, me and everyone else is between 12 and 22. I should be able to pull this thing together. Thoughts on the day... Money, money, money... Thursday 4/28/05 Well things are going good for this Elvis hunter, I'm busy with scheduling and running down non local leads. The plan now is to expand the search for Elvis to hot spots of where he's been sighted and maybe some old management and family. It's a labor of love but it's what's going on. As far as Cleveland goes I think it was Journey who said it... "the search is over". I'm planning a couple of road trips soon. In person interviews are much better than phone interviews. First, I have to scrape up some green to pay for it. Thoughts on the day... I gotta update my journal a little more often. I have an obligation to all of those Elvis-Spotters out there. Tuesday 3/29/05 Well two things... Jobs, jobs I don't like jobs. That's the first thing. The other is that I don't like jobs, especially after your boss is on vacation and he gets back and is extra zealous. Man! On top of that, two months ago work sent me like 5 pounds of paperwork due February 18th. I haven't even broken the seals on the envelopes yet. I cannot complain. My cousin AND her husband recently were downsized from their jobs. All that shortly after getting married and buying a house. So╠I suppose╠I should be grateful to have a job I dislike. ╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠╠ OR I'll get into the dead or alive rockstar documentary business. Thoughts on the day... I'm grateful for the King. Thursday 3/24/05 Well it's been several days since I've written in. I've been swimming in HOMEWORK! I figured the Elvis footage I've had thus far was missing a little something. That was images. Images of anything related to Elvis. Fat Elvis skinny Elvis young Elvis old Elvis his family his friends significant photos of his career (studios that signed him) earliest pic last pic. I've been running this stuff down. So╠to sum up, I'm in a kinko's fedex taking shots of color prints╠ I've just downloaded and printed having Alex fill out an airbill, all while the fedex man is getting ready to leave. That's important to note because my buddy who helps me edit has deadlines of his own and he needed my footage right away. Well after flexing my A.D.D. muscles, I shipped everything on time. Besides all this I'm single now... a month now. So any single╠ladies out there watch out. Muskie, Alex and I are happy and healthy everything's cool. Tuesday 3/15/05 Making a list checking it twice, not in a Santa sort of way. More of a who's still a good lead and whom have I already spoke with. Talked to the elusive newslady, someone╠from Graceland, touched base with a friend from the Elvis valentine party, and of course my old buddy Texas who lent me some post mortem Elvis Audio. Exciting stuff and definitely helpfiul considering I'm bodying out my investigation. Interestingly, Erich and I shared some of our experiences with a friend and she was captivated, with what we had to say. The more we talked the more she listened and its encouraging that once this investigation is through to know that people will observe and╠enjoy our handy work and hopefully make some conclusion that they can call their own. Thoughts on the day... It was fun. I'm going to extend my days in the future to include receiving calls in to the late afternoon and early evening so I can more effectively close the deal with these people. Monday 3/14/05 Well there's another small acheivement on my way to finding Elvis' whereabouts. I've gotten new leads from sources who've named names of Elvis' family that I could run down. Also, shooting has been fun and fast. Erich and I have reached a number of goals that we've set for ourselves. What does all this mean to me and those of you that read these journals? Well, it means soon with some intense scheduling and planning, I'll be hunting for Elvis all across the country. Journal entries will be sent in from remote locations, and hopefully I'll ask the King himself to drop in a message. Thoughts on the past few days... No time to rest on any laurels. A new batch of goals and heightened intensity is next for me. Tuesday 3/8/05 Had a terrific idea over the weekend.╠I captured some shots of me between research╠just "thinking". So the big idea was maybe some variety would be nice "thinking" but outdoors. Saturday and Sunday were 50ish degrees today was 20. Yeah 20. So I'm╠on the roof of my building getting these "great idea variety fillers" when my extremities╠indicated by their blue and purple color that shooting for the day was done. Sweet. Thoughts on the day... I'm numb, I got nothing. Sunday 3/6/05 Got an e-mail from a guy who has stuff, Elvis stuff. I gave him a buzz to see if he'd do an interview and give me a visual tour of his stuff. He respectfully declined, camera shy I suppose. Thoughts on the day... Welp what can I say? Not everyone wants to be star. Friday 3/4/05 Yeah! Finally spoke with a Cleveland television personality that I had been trying to reach since December. Of course as I'm taping I'm shining my shoes because I figured it would be another case of: dial TV station... leave message... dial work cellular number... leave message. So there I am shining my shoes half way through this previously futile exercise and the lady answers her cell. You're kidding right? She has to remain unnamed╠at the time out of respect for her contract and superiors at her╠station. She felt like she couldn't╠say too much. She did make the comment that some things about Elvis and the people who could help prove or disprove his being alive, were "weird".╠╠Nice to get an answer from someone I've been seeking, even if she cannot discuss things further something got done. Thoughts on the day... That lady is cute and bubbly, her saying "that's weird" is really sticking with me. I may have a crush. Monday 2/28/05 Interviewed my friend Rick who lived in THE Elvis sighting hot spot city, Kalamazoo MI. I have in hand about twenty newspaper articles about Elvis being there and what its done for the economy of Kalamazoo. The articles talk about the people that have seen him, where they've seen him, etc., etc. What was cool is that Rick had never heard of any of this stuff! Do you believe that?! Ha ha. Thoughts on the day... Got some cool shots of Rick smoking and drinking with the velvet Elvis behind him. Thursday 2/24/05 Today Erich and I had coffee with a private investigator. We learned how to "disappear". Doug Charney explained that intentions and motivations for being "gone" have to be strong and that pulling it off is a consuming struggle each and every day. Paper trails are the easiest way to relocate someone. Say for example, you so much as sign up for a grocery store conveniece card or movie rental your chances of being found are good. You've got to be Mr. Cash for everything. You've got to earn your money either by crime or under the table at a job where they don't ask a lot of questions.╠Mr. Charney went on, stating some╠reasons why people don't have success staying hidden. The biggest pitfall is heartstrings. People want to walk down a familiar street again or drive by a house or a school. Even if╠you╠don't communicate with anybody, someone may see you and your trail is hot again. Of course as time goes on, people tend to get lax. This also is a pitfal. Mr. Charney stated that it is important to know who you can trust. You might want an ally throughout your hiding. For example living with a girlfriend where everything is in her name, you're hidden. It's cool, right? Except for when╠things go south, and there's no telling what sort of wrath may come. If you share with a friend what you're doing, they have to keep quiet also. Finally, I'll report that government involvement, say possibly like Elvis's situation, and agencies like the witness protection program. Charney stated that these work really well. It's the subject, the hidden person, that eventually stops playing by the rules. Breaking the rules and subsiding fears are what can lead to a discovery. Thoughts on the day... Doug Charney was a lot fun and very cool, I learned a lot in case I ever need to ditch my glamorous lifestyle. Monday 2/21/05 Well I got a phone call from the elusive news reporter today. Of course I called back and got the voice mail. However that's progress, that's a response. Thursday I'm meeting a private investigator for coffee. Thoughts on the day... I like the little pieces of progress. Thursday 2/17/05 Well I'm locking down the house, the dog and my little boy, then I'm on the road for my day job from today through the weekend.╠╠ Wednesday 2/16/05 Scored! I got a private investigator to give me an interview. Also, I made contact with a guy who's╠conducting his own Elvis' investigation. We were on the phone for nearly an hour. He agreed to check in╠with me and give me more of his info. He's actually taken pictures of a man wandering around the grounds of╠Graceland whom he thinks could be Elvis. He╠also has some interesting audio tape.╠We'll call this lead source "Texas". I don't want to╠use his name because he's had people drive by his home, shake out his hard drive etc. He's in deep.╠"They" bother Texas and want to know what he knows, if you know what I mean. Either way, he agreed to be a multiple part interview within my investigative process. Thoughts on the day... Considering all of the subjects I've met with, I thought interviews may become redundant. Once again the╠truth about Elvis has more twists and turns than I thought imaginable. Tuesday 2/15/05 Alright, I scored some newspaper articles about Elvis sightings in Kalamazoo, MI. Paying to get them printed up then shipped to my office. I suspect some more interesting leads will come out of these stories. Also, I'm stilll trying to run down some Cleveland area writers and news people. I'm╠just calling and calling we'll see what happens. Thoughts on the day... Need to see some of this "chase work" blossom into some scheduled interviews.╠I have to focus on my day job for few days and won't be around to contact leads. Monday 2/14/05 Happy Valentines Day. I'm taking my girlfriend some flowers then getting on the phone. That's it! Thoughts on the day... The lady who put my flowers together for me has been married 38 years and she says "I love my honey so much as time goes on it gets deeper". Aaaawl. Saturday 2/12/05 (again) Well I did it. I saw my kid shoot hoops, Erich and I got some awesome Elvis footage and my girlfriend and I had about as good a Valentine's date one could ask for. It wasn't easy.╠At approximately 8:05pm (25mins╠'til dinner reservation) I was unshowered, my gifts weren't wrapped and I was still five minutes from my house. Erich and I were up to our necks in pink tissue paper wrapping the digital camera I bought my girl, traveling at 30mph down the street. It was a sight man!╠Erich made the comment how a documentary on he and I running around doing our thing would be interesting. I got into the house, gave Erich instructions on where to hide the gifts, as I yelled to my girl to start the shower for me so I could save that 45 seconds it takes to get the water temperature just right. I've got to tell you, sometimes A.D.D. comes in handy. We had a fabulous dinner at Theory. Wine, filet, the whole nine. Erich snuck the gifts into the hostesses after Jen and I were sat. The instructions were: bring out the Valentine's gifts after we order dinner, then bring out the Christmas gifts just before dessert. As I mentioned yesterday, I was lagging in the gift ratio between my girl and I. It was a lot fun She looked extra beautiful. So what about the Elvis party? Well, Erich and I also conducted this portion of the day like it was a three alarm fire. We didn't know what to expect. Until now, interviews╠have been research driven. This was literally taking a camera into a╠reserved party room, reserved for Elvis fans╠only. These people were a fun fabulous bunch. It's hard to figure where to begin so I'll go in order. First Mike, he believes Elvis is dead. He is a huge fan. Of course I'm thinking╠ interview this man as a fan not so much for research. Well hold the phone. When Mr. Mike got going, I couldn't stop jotting names of authors and experts. Mike can shoot gaping holes into any "Elvis is alive" theory. Next Mary Lou, she kept alledging how she doesn't take good pictures. When she agreed to step outside for a cigarette with me, and Erich pointed the camera at her, she said "Oh, he's alive", and basically put on a clinic about how an avid fan feels for their missing King. The best was when she said, "come look at this you're going to think I'm really crazy". We looked at an Ohio license plate. In the upper left corner "Ohio" is written in a fancy cursive BUT when you look at it from the side it says ELVIS! No way I was floored, now I have to squint just to see the word "Ohio". Theresa joined us╠a for the cigarette and was a laugh-a-minute. She reflected on the times she had seen Elvis perform LIVE. Ginger and Joan planned this event. They are a lot of fun and I was just trying to be a good new member of the club remembering their names and being respectful, offering ways I can contribute. They are very supportive of my project. Just as I started looking at the time 6:50ish i started thinking about how my girlfriend was going to dump me if we missed dinner. So I told Erich to shoot me saying thanks and goodbye to these wonderful people. Then, who walks in? Walt, Elvis impersonator. He was not in costume but his hair and side burns were right on. He brought with him his family: wife Terry, Walt Jr. and Matt. Now again I'm thinking approach this guy as a huge fan and imersonator. NOPE wrong again. Walt also is a valuable resource, full of information. He agreed to stay in touch and help me if he could. I explained to everyone I was going to get "dumped"╠if I don't hit the road, we took a group picture╠and promised we see each other next time. I'm looking forward to it. Thoughts on the day... Most intense Elvis fan action I've captured so far. The beat goes on though╠I've got old leads getting older and a whole fresh batch to run down. New leads, 15 new friends an hour of great footage, all for the cost of a Teddy bear. Saturday 2/12/05 This is a bit of an early journal entry. I usually write these at the end of the day, but I may not have time later and I wanted to give you the rundown. Today is going to be extra cool. First of all, I'm busy as a bee making Valentine preparations. Washing the car, (super hot╠87' VW Golf) counting cash (waiting for more in the mail), then I've got to shop for my girlfirend, Jen. Our gift ratio is out of whack, so I'm going to try and catch up tonight. We're going to dinnner,╠there╠I'll have╠the server run out with a big bag of gifts.╠It's all planned out but for the╠execution. (I hope she doesn't read this before tonight.) My son, Alex has a basketball skills camp today. I'm going to try and make it. In between all of this, I'm going to actually work on the documentary!╠"C'mon now!", you may say. Place╠your bets, place your bets. Dig this, there is a quaint town, Parma, Ohio - the city Drew Carey╠hails from. There is a restaurant, Denny's, k? Why do we care? Well╠because this Parma Denny's is hosting an Elvis Fan Meet Up Party, admission one brand new Teddy Bear (for charity). Erich, my director of photography, and I are going. My girlfriend may join╠us, she said it depends on whether she has enough time╠to get ready for our date. So! Erich and I are going to party like it's 1956 we these E fans. That starts at five o'clock, then around eight we'll cut out, pick up my girl and make the eight-thirty reservation. Erich has agreed to play chauffer. As far╠as the party goes, I think I'll just set up an area where people can stop in front of the camera, state their name and discuss Elvis: dead, alive and why they think so. I'm sure╠just socializing with the people will be fun to capture too. Thoughts on the day... Well this thought comes as a pause, a pause to be grateful that I have the time and energy to work on this Elvis project, to do something special for my lovely girlfriend and to get to watch my kid play hoops, all in one day. Only in America! Wednesday 2/9/05 Happy Mardi Gras, Ash Wednesday and Chinese New Year! I posted some new photos today. If you haven't seen any pix of me yet, here you go. I posted some shots of me working the phones and at the library. A great photo of me and Brian DeVall with his book. Check out the photos at the Rock Hall. Damn it's cold! Thoughts on the day... Still more work to do. I didn't get the interview I wanted at the Rock Hall yet, but I'll get it. Friday 2/4/05 I discovered a new strange place today. It's filled with books and computers╠and all sorts of information. I thought it was called "big place with books-n-stuff"╠but someone told me it's what they call a "library". Hmmm!? Okay. Either way, I wandered around long enough to find some articles and books about Elvis. Erich and I╠shot a bunch of footage (I think I look like╠I know what I'm doing) checking out books, microfilm etc. Then I received a call from Bill Beeney, proprieter of the Elvis is Alive Museum.╠We talked for nearly an hour on the phone. He was very cooperative and nice. He explained in great detail why Elvis would want to fake his death. He told me about the arrangements that were going on just before August 16 1977. Mr. Beeney knew of Elvis' active participation with the government and DEA. Honestly, when Mr.Beeney tells you about his scientific evidence that Elvis was not in the casket that was buried it makes it hard to remain objective.╠There are people on my list of leads that╠I feel I have more to tell them about Elvis then they could tell me. They should ask╠me for an interview. The further I seek the truth the more I realize some writers /╠reporters╠were just regurgitating information to sell tickets to an Elvis╠event or to have a good lead story for the news that night. I should add that when you have no money and you're trying to make a movie and you're fortunate enough to get Bill Beeney on the phone, the anxiety over sound quality is immense. After Mr. Beeney said goodbye, I told Erich to roll it back, and let's make sure of the sound, (cresendo heartbeating sound effect here). BOOM! We got it! A few high fives were shared, we had lunch then back to business. After lunch and the high of a great interview with Mr. Beeney, fatigue set in and intensity was low. There's no better way to combat that than to show up uninvited to the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame's business offices.╠Terry Stewart and James Henke are the names I have. After visiting, I picked up a few more names╠who may be interesting interviews, we'll see. Henke and Stewart were unavailable. Then to the center of town, Public Square, Cleveland OH. It's fun barnstorming people with questions and my Truth About Elvis business cards. It's great how humans, one won't look at you, another, won't shush up. It's always fun though. After that a closing statement to potential investors and producers. It sort of goes like this... 50,000,000 Elvis fans need closure. Help me bag up and present all the evidence, and let╠these fans decide what they think is the truth about Elvis. Thoughts for the day... Well I feel like I'm 2.5% percent of the way done. That feels good. Thursday 2/3/05 Started working at 8:00am and went strong until 6:00pm.╠My director of photograghy, Erich and I focused on the main body of what's to be the trailer for the╠Truth About Elvis.╠ I really cost us some valuable time by not having my lines down for the narration, I resorted to a cue card system and eventually just improvised, which in the end was our best stuff. I was still careful to make sure everything was factual. Then I rolled up my sleeves and got on that telephone again. An Elvis fan and friend of mine donated a phone with a working speaker phone function which made all the difference. A lot of cigarettes and coffee later we called it╠a day. Thoughts on the day... Having a little or a lot of help ie, Erich and a good phone, makes an immeasurable difference. My approach to movies has always been "bring it on, I can get that done quickly and done well for cheap". Being bogged down with a broken phone and no one to run a camera will humble someone quickly. Thanks Erich, thanks phone... most effective╠and successful day yet. Wednesday 2/2/05 Setting up meetings and interviews is a real labor of love for me. I've got one of those MTV attention spans. Throw in the fact that I want to record my subjects over the phone and my speaker phone works when it wants to. Frustrating, but funny at the same time. Either way, today marks the beginning of some serious shooting. I've got help scheduled and a hard goal to get the trailer portion of Truth About Elvis shot. Then the fun begins. I'll try to get some outside money and some outside help ...from Hollywood. Thoughts on the day... Must have huge next two days, must get rest, must buckle down. Sleep. Sleep. Saturday 1/29/05 As far as projects go, there is always one moment or event that pushes a person in a direction of excitement and immeasurable ambition. My moment came today when I met Brian DeVall author of Jesse╠and soon to be released,╠Jesse Lives.╠I mean flat out the guy was cool.╠He invited myself and my director of photograghy Eric into his house, gave us coffee and off we went with the interview. Brian DeVall knows a lot about Elvis, factually, and his book is an infusion of╠his knowledge and╠imagination.╠The things I learned from Brian were a.) about Colonel Tom Parker's less than fair business practices with Elvis. By today's standards Elvis was getting more than ripped off. b.) The fact that Lisa Marie was in the house when Elvis "died" was a╠piece of evidence , Brian felt,╠that would cause one to lean toward believing ╠that Elvis was actually dead. Makes sense, who would choose to have such a traumatic event take place with a young child present.╠c.) Mr.DeVall also went into great detail about Elvis' body, the weigth of the coffin (extremely heavy perhaps╠because there was a refrigeration mechanism built in to keep the alleged wax dummy from disfiguring during the showing) there's even an account of a sideburn╠peeling off. Not to mention Elvis was buried unceremoniously quick. A huge thank you to Brian. I'm not going to quote Brian, but╠he might say to keep your eyes peeled next time you're traveling in your car because that might be the King in that╠eighteen wheeler╠next to you. Thoughts for the day... One good interview deserves another so I'll just keep working and report back soon. Friday 1/28/05 Well the day job got the better of me these two days. I have to share this; I stood outside, working, in a 5ft x 5ft area. I was in Columbus, Ohio and it was somewhere between 15 and 20 degrees. After two and a half hours of being in this 5x5 spot I realized I need to talk to someone in the office. So I started walking and believe it or not, the soles of my shoes absorbed moisture and froze. When I walked, it sounded like╠I had clogs on or Frankenstein boots or those wooden dutch people shoes. Now this was alarming, but I╠have to say I got a kick out of it. I mean, is that weird or what?! Rubber soles taking on the consistency of solid wood! That's never happened to me before. I'm grateful for that unique experience. Thoughts for the Day... Well here's a surprise for you. In spite of the many hours I put into to work... I scheduled an╠ interview with Mr. Brian DeVall, author of, Jesse and soon to be released Jesse Lives. I'll see him tomorrow afternoon just outside of Pittsburgh, PA. Wednesday 1/26/05 I got a copy of news footage of the doctor who claims he's been treating Elvis for six years. The doctor got a lot of heat, was fined, gagged etc. He can no longer prescribe drugs, I mean the authorities came down on this guy.╠I filmed me watching it, feel funny saying that "filmed me watching it". This Jesse guy that says he's Elvis wrote a letter in defense of the doctor. A handwriting expert compared it to an Elvis letter "premortem." She confirms... same author. POW! ALIVE! THERE YOU GO! Thoughts for the Day... Handwriting lady... I'm buying it. Regarding the doctor,╠really... would someone spend thousands of dollars on college and med school, risk their life limb and practice just to participate in fantasy. Only to╠get their rep tarnished and lose it all... please.╠Even if someone was that silly it would only confirm in my mind that the guy was╠paid. Paid╠to feed the media and public a╠ridiculous story. Perhaps the doctor was a paid puppet. He was paid to come out and say "Elvis is going to step out by the end of '04". Then when Elvis doesn't the whole world says, "see it's just crazy talk... he's dead"... cover up perpetuated. I'll keep digging to see where this goes. Tuesday 1/25/05 Simple day, shot myself around the house amongst my Elvis books, newspaper clippings my official Elvis documents, miscellaneous pics etc. I have two versions of his birth certificate with conflicting spellings of his middle name. Hmm. Thought for the day... Ever seen "Wag the Dog" where they produce a song then digitally age it? Well, if enough people asked about the mispelling of a name wouldn't it make sense to just "produce" an official document╠ie a birth certificate╠with that same mispelling to a.) discourage such enquiring minds and b.)╠support the cover up? Monday╠ 1/24/05 Yes! A gratifying day to say the least. I took to the street to get "establishing shots" for the beginning of the movie. Suddenly a crew appeared! I went form a one man team to a four man team in thirty minutes. I had a directior of photography, an on set photographer and a production assistant. Yeah! Look for the pics on the site soon. Better news yet an author of a book titled Jessie Lives, all about Elvis and his "death", contacted me and agreed to give me an interview! Now I'll have to deal with the pressure of having a good source and making sure I ask questions that a. are satisfying for my audience and b. get me closer to unraveling the truth about Elvis. Thoughts for the day... Last Monday I was wrenching on an automobile and my clothes were soaked with gasoline, compare that to this Monday. Sunday 1/23/05 Johnny Carson passed away. That's really too bad. Johnny once said "If life were fair, Elvis would be alive and all the impersonators would be dead." (I'm sure he didn't mean that literally.) We're gonna miss you Johnny. Week of 1/13/05 - 1/20/05 Well it was one of those weeks where you feel like you haven't done anything and you want to beat yourself up over it, but at the same time you were doing the best you could. My day job took me to Dayton, Ohio, 60 miles from Cincinnati, 180 miles from Cleveland (home). Just as I'm ready to point my super hot '87 VW Golf north for the three hour trip home, the thing dies. Yeah dies. I spent three hours at a gas station building rapport with the attendant, borrowing the yellow pages, drinking coffee etc. Her name was "Chika" (no kidding). She called her x-boyfriend mechanic and he took a look at it and said "we can't do anything until Monday". This was Saturday at 3:00pm. I had $40.00 in my pocket, no car, no place to stay. Now I've been stranded before, however it was in Columbus Ohio where my little sister goes to school - Ohio State University. Not so bad. She put me up until I was rolling again. This was different. The only people I had in Dayton╠were a couple of club owners with whom I've had a couple beers, I mean "medium rare" acquaintances at best. So I took these guys into their office, it went something like this... "Look my car is broken, I cannot get home.╠I╠have no money.╠I need you╠guys to put me up and I need you to front the money to fix this car.╠I'll pay you back this week or next and there you go that's the deal." They agreed to help, so I got drunk, shot pool and fell asleep in one of the booths in the bar. They woke me up and╠dropped me at a semi seedy hotel. I checked out at 11:30 then sat in the lobby watching football and movies for about three hours. I gave the desk clerk a hard time because the night clerk over charged me, and then I gave the manager a hard time╠when he asked me what the problem was. I have to laugh because here I'm acting like an asshole in their lobby watching football and drinking coffee free of charge while quibbling over money spent that wasn't even╠my MONEY! HA! GO ELVIS HUNTER!╠╠ So long story longer attempted replacement part #1 didn't do it. That was Sunday.╠Monday last ditch effort "think we got it now type deal" while my buddy was picking up attempted replacement part╠#2 I broke another part! This is where the depression starts to sink in you know. Blah blah blah╠order parts, little sister drives an hour to get me I smell like gasoline, blah blah╠blah, girlfriend drives two hours to get me blah blah blah. My little boy missed me like crazy so I put off the documentary and focused on him for the last two days and the four days prior I was stranded and working. SO! I'm ready to commence seeking the truth about elvis. Thoughts on the week... 15 degree weather, gasoline spraying in your face, lying on an icy ground╠underneath an 18 year old automobile is no way to find Elvis.╠ Sunday 1/9/05 Outside of an Elvis tribute show I took a buddy, Mike, he ran camera and I passed out info. w/ the website and basically requesting help with my investigation. A lot of people were willing to talk. One lady even said she had slept with Elvis. Hunka Hunka Burnin Love! My presence out there, I think, sparked these fans deep unsettled curiosity about their beloved King. These tribute goers shot me looks that seemed to say "no... really... you're still on that" and others' looks seemed to secretly say "I think he may be alive too, but I'm not going to take you seriously right now for fear of embarassment in front of my friends." Either way they all have the info and the recently unveiled Elvis tipline. One guy was named Elvis he showed me his I.D. Nice try pal, but as we say South Lorain, "you ain't no king." Thoghts on the day... Are there 200 Elvis fans who know I'm on the case...yes. Will they help me with my investigation and provide leads or a donation? We'll see. Saturday 1/8/05 ELVIS' BIRTHDAY !!! I stopped in a local "alternative lifestyle" bar. 6 ladies yelled "happy birthday" Elvis for me. Not too much investigating, really just having fun interviewing people. Some Elvis fans, some not so Elvis fans. Next bar - local brewery in town. Two guys about Elvis' age put on a phoney Irish brogue and pretty much just tried to be funny. One guys' favorite Elvis cut was "Hound Dog". Finally, my best interview was with "William". He said his favorite Elvis cut was "Moon over Kentucky" I asked him if the King ever sees this is there anything he'd like to say to Elvis? William replied "keep on rockin'. Also William said he thought Elvis would be somewhere singin on his birthday. Cool. Thoughts on the day... Really this night was kind of a scrimmage. I'm investigating the mystery around Elvis' "death". Hanging out running a camera asking people fun light hearted questions is enjoyable, however it's not going to help me discover the truth about Elvis. Thursday 1/6/05 I'm busy with work, but I signed up for ebay today.╠ Maybe I can sell some things to help pay for the film.╠ I'm still learning how it works.╠ I bought a couple of Elvis research items.╠ I also ordered a Tshirt that says "Elvis is Alive and living in my shorts".╠ GENTLY USED.╠ I couldn't resist.╠ From now on, I m going to try to spend my money a little more wisely.╠ Seriously. This weekend is E's 70th birthday (if he's still alive).╠ I ordered some business cards to pass out at a few Elvis parties.╠ Maybe some big fans will have a huge lead for me. After I die, I hope people keep celebrating MY birthday. Wednesday 1/5/05 I'm driving all over the place for my job.╠ I was in Columbus today doing the bathroom ad thing.╠ I brought my camera, but the weather ain't cooperating.╠ I'm afraid to take the camera out of my car.╠ I was hoping to get some shots down here. Sunday 1/2/05╠ I didn't mention this at the top, but I'm presently on house arrest for a DUI.╠ I've got this ankle bracelet, and I have to be home by 4:30 every day.╠ It really sucks.╠ It's hard to get a film made this way.╠ Only one more week, then I'm done.╠ I've gotten a few shots done so far.╠ I want to get as much of the film done myself, maybe all of it.╠ If I had two nickels to rub together, I could probably afford to make the whole film with my camera.╠ For now, I'm rubbing pennies.╠ We'll see how it goes. Thursday 12/30/04╠ I'm going to give up on interviewing people I know.╠ I think I'm already off track.╠ I should probably do the bonus footage last.╠ The heart of the film should come first.╠ Without a film, what the hell am I going to do with bonus footage?╠ At least I have some momentum now.╠ 2005 should be a big year for me &I hope. New car.╠ Well, new to me.╠ Diesel engine, just the way I like em.╠ I need good milage for all the driving I do. ╠ Tuesday 12/28/04╠ My car died on the way to an interview with my parents and sis.╠ That car's on engine #2, so I think it's done.╠ It's a T-bird with a smashed grill.╠ It didn't look good, but it ran fine.╠ (until now)╠ I live in Cleveland.╠ It's not the best time of year to have a car die.╠ Damn cold.╠ A new car's gonna cut into my budget.╠ Shit!╠ I'll keep my head up.╠ It's too early to even think about quitting.╠ We got the interview.╠ That's all that matters. Monday 12/27/04╠ I've got a kid, or as I like to call him, my spawn.╠ I still can't get over the misspelling on E's tombstone.╠ Why would his dad Vernon misspell E's middle name?╠ Frankly, I'm a skeptic about this whole conspiracy.╠ At the same time, I think it would be incredibly disrespectful to misspell my own son's name on his tombstone.╠ Also, as a dad, I wouldn't ever want to see my kid's name on a slab.╠ If I was going to pretend he's dead, I'd probably misspell his name too.╠ I really want to know the full story. Wednesday 12/22/04 There's some great stuff online about Elvis.╠ It's like a million web sites.╠ Lots of stuff on Colonel Tom Parker, Priscilla and Memphis Mafia, etc.╠ I think it's funny that E had to sneak in and out of Graceland sometimes.╠ Imagine that!╠ Maybe we can start shooting next week.╠ That's the word for now.╠ I'll keep you posted. Monday 12/20/04 With the help of some friends, I finally launched this web site, and I hope to get started on this film ASAP.╠ I'm not a web guy, but I think we came up with a great logo and format for the site.╠ Anyways, here it is.╠ I hope you like it. First, a little background:╠ I have always loved Elvis and his music, like so many of his fans do.╠ Most of you know that Elvis built a HUGE following of fans.╠ Many of these folks travel to Memphis regularly to celebrate The King.╠ As much as I enjoy and respect Elvis' talent, I've never been to Memphis or even read a full book on him.╠ I recently began to look up people who knew him, and I will learn more and more about Elvis as we go.╠ I will try to keep an unbiased perspective to help make this a better film. I'm not entirely sure where to start.╠ I've already started looking things up online, just to see what's out there.╠ I'll dig deeper, and I'll check out the library.╠ It should be interesting.
